InfoSec Europe 2017 | CyberSecuritySpeak on the Road

Racepoint Global

This week the Racepoint Global team hit the halls of Infosecurity Europe, Europe’s largest and most comprehensive information security event to hear more about the key trends that are emerging in the ever-changing security landscape.

Unsurprisingly, GDPR was on everyone’s lips this year. With less than 12 months before the new legislation comes into force, the security sector was keen to discuss its implications and how businesses can ensure they are compliant and protected. Vendors looking to promote their solutions and how they can support with GDPR will need to careful plan and execute their marketing and PR strategy to standout in this noisy market place.

Digital skills were also a top talking point as many attendees highlighted the difficulties in finding and retaining the best staff. With cybersecurity and the volume and scale of attacks only set to increase, these problems are likely to escalate in the months and years ahead. However, while this was still seen as a major issue, one solution was discussed in the opening keynote presentation by Dame Stella Rimmington, former director general of MI5. Dame Stella highlighted the importance and need for greater diversity in security as it will not only help plug the skills gap but also bring in different viewpoints to the industry. For an industry lacking skills this could be the perfect solution.
