Tom Parnell

As a vice president in Racepoint’s Boston office, Tom serves as his clients’ day-to-day contact while leading the strategic planning for each company’s priorities across key business segments. His work has spanned both public and private companies in a variety of industries, including IT, networking, data center, B2B, telecommunications, and manufacturing.

Before joining the Racepoint team, Tom was a vice president at Weber Shandwick in Boston. In this role, he worked within the agency’s technology practice group, serving clients such as Tata Communications, PTC, SevOne, Iron Mountain and the state of Utah. Prior to Weber, he was a director at Waggener Edstrom, and served as the client relationship lead for Microsoft’s global research organization, Microsoft Research. He collaborated with various business groups (e.g., Azure, Office, Bing, Xbox, Skype, Windows Phone) and global PR leads to tell all-up company stories through owned and earned channels about how Microsoft is investing in basic and applied research in areas like artificial intelligence, big data/machine learning, and the Internet of Things.

Tom started his professional career as a TV reporter and anchor, working for 8+ years at television stations in Texas, Indiana, Kentucky, and Massachusetts. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communications at the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
